Head collars..

Black dog head collar - I ordered one, tried it out, fitted it properly and sized it right.

It still rubs in his eyes.

So thats;

Halti - rubbish overall

Dogmatic - too bulky and rubbed in his eyes - correct sizing too.

Gentle leader - Didn't really stop pulling.

Canny collar - not used on Louie but on Benjie - was rubbish.

Black dog head collar - twisted around on his muzzle - rubbed in his eyes when he pulled.

I've also tried anti pull harnesses - Louie took the anti out of it!

Any other recommendations?

Oh dear you do not appear to be having much luck with all this equipment do you? Remember headcollars do not STOP pulling they merely reduce the severity of it.

I reallly only recommend the Black Dog as that is the one I and many other fellow DTIS have had the best results with with clients.

Yep - they can put men on the moon, but create a headcollar where the slipline doesn't move over the dog's eyes....???

I found Dogmatic to be great, until Dex got a bit bigger and then slipped between two sizes, neither of which fit comfortably.

You might want to try the GenCon All In One? It's lovely and lightweight, thus far the slipline has not moved into Dex's eyes, and you can put it on very loosely. But - it does tighten when the dog pulls so may not be comfortable with dogs that pull a great deal. Also, when loose the dog can get the slipline off....

I find the Black Dog Halter great, though the 'lace' bits at the side don't look that comfortable. The slipline should not move into the dog's eyes - is it at all possible your dog needs a bigger size? (sorry, may have asked you that earlier today)

I knew someone would say that!

So since we have had him, we have tried the drunken walk - worked for so long, then he stopped listening.

Tried the food and toys - nope not that either.

Something that is seeming to work at the moment is I stop and tell him to heel - he'll come to the right of me (yes I'm right handed but he walks at the right of me - I'm awkward like that) and then we walk again. It's worked so far.

I only really need a stop pull tool so that when I walk around the lake he can't suddenly pull me over or my arm out. And also for when I'm walking down the country lane from my house to get to these walks.

Have you tried 300 peck? Otherwise, the Turid Ruugas book maybe? I remember Moon's Mum/Amanda said the book helped her loads with Cain

When we used to get a foster dog that pulled a lot then I used to pass a soft lead under one front leg and walk them like that for a while. Soon as they pull the leg lifts and they lose all pulling power.

No I measured him correctly he's a medium, I can't remember exactly - I have it written down though.. I'm sure they're great products but maybe I have an odd dog..same with Sadie, she fits into neither small or medium things. grr just my luck.
