That is what I am wanting to avoid with my next dog!
You will never ever avoid the teen stage - you just manage it the best you can IMO...

No I have not tried, I tend to believe the breed specialists when they say that the breed should not be let off; and I am not that egotistical to think I know better.

I tend to think that if you want a dog that you can let off the lead, you should pick a breed that you can, one of the reasons I think prospective owners should make lists of what they WANT and what they do NOT want in a breed and not just go for looks!

I wasn't implying you were egotistical.. just asking if you had ever tried or if anyone had come to you with a problem husky..
There are some huskies on here that do obedience which involves offlead control I'm sure or is it just agility.. so I think if you work hard at it you can get any breed to recall.. surely?

Edit: got my breeds mixed up - they are N.I's not huskies so I'm stuck - I have no solid proof that a husky can come off lead so I suppose that the husky specialists are right for all the dogs then..

I have had clients with huskies but with issues other than recall.

HUGE difference between Chester, my sister was so worried about him not coming back she didn't let him off til he was about 4 months and now at 2 his recall is better but as yesterday proved he's still able to give me heart palpitations by not coming back when called; and Griffin, let off lead the first time he was allowed outside after his jabs and I put a huge amount of work in to ensure he'd come back under any circumstances, I spent a lot of time hiding behind trees etc he's only a year but it's come good, his recall gets better and better with every walk it seems at the moment. Worth the work from day one definitely!!
