Red Dwarf X

Back this week (and we can't watch it till the in-laws record it and post the DVD down to us - got scaffolding up blocking our Sky signal with no alternate aerial).

I loved Red Dwarf as a kid - Dave have been showing them all over the weekend last couple of weeks (we'll forget that awful final series where they resurrected the crew)... but gawd they're all looking old - particularly Chris Barrie!

I thought that.

We are (were) big RD fans and were very sorry to see it end.

It'll be interesting to see series X.

It's actually pretty good - compared to that awful one-off special they did.

Yes we've resorted to illicit online TV viewing shenanigans with the laptop hooked up to the TV screen since we're still TV-less!

I thought it was good. loved the bit about the moose.
As for them looking older, well time doesn't stand still even on red dwarf.

It's just a shame that good shows get spoilt by canned laughter.

I watched RD 10 last night and thought it was brilliant. Its humour harked back to the good old days.Yes they looked much older and wee bit rounder, but hey its over 20 years since its conception! The special they did other year just wasnt right, but this first episode ticked all the right boxes.

Smeg head!

The special did have the amusement factor that was carbug - about all that's good that can be said about it though.

At least the first episode of this batch went back to the strength of the show which IS the way the core four characters (although I miss Holly - particularly original Holly) and their personalities interact. I quite liked the resumption of the ongoing element of Rimmer's astronavigation exam as well to be honest - picking up an old thread rather than just assuming it ALL had to be new and spelt out for a new audience.

Drawback being - I've had the Arnold Rimmer song wedged in my brain all week.
