Once more he lightly cast away the earth,
lunging forward into space,
impossibly outstretched,
suspended for a final moment in the sun
with a defiant sort of grace,
a profoundly wild joy,
and is gone without a trace

Your border collie reminds me of another of my friends from years ago--Dunbar was a wonderful and extremely intelligent dog, trained to hand signals. He even had a sense of humor. He would pretend that he was going out and little Sheba, a domineering little terrier mutt., would run to get ahead of him. He would stop at the door and let her run outside alone. He always looked like he was laughing when he tricked her
