moving

hello all

i didn't want to say any thing here but i need some advice and i thought where better than here. my OH and me have split up, it only happened last night but we have both said that the house has to go cos there is no way i can keep it on my own and he cant help if he has to have his own place.

so what do i do??? im looking to rent and have the council pay for it but how do i go about it? can i find my own please that will take Dss (is that right?) or do i have togo where they tell me to go?

it going to be hard to find somewhere that will take dogs, pups and cats and then i have 3 children as well

and something else i have just thought about when do i let the tax credit ppl know? as i don't really want to be paying council tax if i can help it and how do i talk to about going on the Dss

thanks all

Really sorry to hear the news. You can look for your own place that will take DSS or go on the list of current Council/Housing Association properties. Try citizens advice or somewhere similar as your first step. You could also try the job centre, they will be able to point you in the right direction if you don't know where your local DSS office is.
Don't panic, just make sure you see someone soon and get the advice you need. Good luck, we're all thinking of you.

So sorry.

Try the council for housing, also citizen's advice.

But why do you have to give up your house, especially with 3 kids? Could you get some help with paying the mortgage? Won't your ex have a responsibility to help see his children are housed?

I hope you get something sorted out really soon.

When my sister and her OH split up last Christmas, she was sent a list of house's that accept DSS tennants, or they said they would pay the money into her bank account and she could pay the landlord herself, but I know it wasn't much and she would have to find the rest herself, but at least this way they didn't know she was on DSS and could choose any property within her budget.
