Wellies

Well after less than a year my newest pair of Hunters have given up the ghost and split I have bought Hunters for years and some seem to be really good quality and last for ages, and then other pairs last far below what you would expect.

So, I am looking for a new make of wellies to try. I wear them A LOT so they need to be good quality, durable with a decent sole.

Any wellie experts on here?

I buy a cheap pair of £9.99 ones they last about a year and then just go and buy a new pair. I find it works out the same cost wise as buying expensive ones or walking boots.

Which type do you have? I have been looking at the Vega ones.

Just had a look at those, but I am looking for something a bit more traditional.

mine are the Vega - i wouldnt swap them for the world!

I always thought barbours and Hunters were the best, quite similar in style etc as well. I dont have a clue about any others im afraid

I have had 2 pairs of the Vega and they have both split on the sole. I do put a LOT of wear into them and have found them to be incredibly comfy. I am always tempted to buy a new pair as I just think it's the amount of wear I put into them, plus the heather which is really hard on them.

Saying it again as it is true - they are soooo comfy and warm. lol

I have just bought some le chameau mouflons so maybe those and a pair of wellies would be a better option than just wellies as it would spread the wear out. I really do miss my vega's!

If you do a search on various Horse suppliers sites, you might find an equivalent to Hunters and maybe not quite so pricey! Mountain Horse, Robinsons Catalogue, Stockley Trading Co. are some I can remember from my horsey days. Try those

I remember my first pair of Hunters lasted 12 years and that was using them every day even for riding! I wouldn't dream of buying a pair now, far too pricey for what they are imo. I now pay £10 and no more!
