Fudge has conjunctivitus.

I have just returned from the vets with Fudge. She has conjunctivitus ( as i suspected) and has some anti-biotic eye cream. Do i need to take other precautions , such as no dog class, until it has cleared up? I know in children it is extremely contagious.

Is it not as contagious in dogs as it is in humans, but it is still contagious. So I would personally stop the classes until she is back to normal.

Hope Fudge is feeling better soon! Poor little girl, give her big cuddles from me and Max xxxxx

Thanks for the info, It is only one class we will have to miss....The cream should work in about 3 days apparently. She is fine in herself and her eyes do not seem to be bothering her at all. She did not like the vet putting the cream in at all though and I am dreading having to do it single handedly later. I did learn about the third eyelid though!!!

Just make sure that you, or anyone that has touched Fudge round her eyes, washes thier hands thoroughly.

I'd skip classes for this week until the cream starts to work. Storm had conjunctivitis when she was a pup. The cream she was given cleared it up quite quickly

Poor Fudge!
Polo used to get it from time to time, the last occasion the cream didn't do much but it was quite a bad attack, so the vet gave him horse eye ointment!
Worked a treat - it was gone in 36 hours!
So don't worry if at first it doesn't work, the vet should have something stronger. Hopefully it won't come to that.
Hugs to you and Fudge. Go and have a strong cup of tea!
