Cain's 1st Bike Ride

I've been wanting to try this for a while but I've been too chicken in case I got pulled off! So I convinced my long suffering boyfriend to meet us on the heath so we could try Cain running alongside the bike (he's a much better bike rider than me so less chance of getting pulled off!). Cain was surprisingly good. He did weave in front of the bike once or twice, but got the idea quite quickly. Took him a minute to work out the pace but he didn't pull the bike over, which is the main thing! However he has NO stamina and started to lag behind quite quickly. He was knackered after a few mins Wait till we borrow our friend's dog scooter (they have a husky), it'll be interesting to see if he wants to do it.

Knackered after five mins....

A short video clip

Liam's asked that I send the photos of him to show him work mates. He seems to spend his weekend going to dog socialisation class, agility, a few weeks ago we took the dog to hydrotherapy for swimming and now cycling. His colleagues think I'm nuts

This is a very dangerous way to bike a dog, please get a Springer or a Walkydog.

MOON'S MUM - is Cain wearing a headcollar while biking? Must admit if he is, I'd be a bit worried because if it gets jerked i.e. if your partner's bike slid or something, could hurt Cain's neck...?

It was only the trial run, going in slow circles around a green. I wasn't about to pay out for a full bike attachment if Cain refused to run with the bike. I was planning on buying a proper attachment if we decide to so this more regularly.

I tried Louie around my garden, off lead (It's big enough) and he got the idea quickly too and even thought it was a game - no punctures in the tires though lol and he heeling well next too it - it'll be a different story when we're out and about (when I get a walkydog)

It'll be an excellent way to exercise him when you don't have a lot of time, Sadie and I used to do 25 miles every week on the bike - she'd get back and still want to play with the ball after a quick drink! He'll pick his stamina up soon, and if you're lucky he may ignore other dogs if he's running along, Benjie did when we took him out with the bikes, came within a foot of another dog and ignored it whereas he would usually lash out

Good luck with the cycling - hope it all works out for you and Cain - at least you know it'll knacker him out

If you decide to go for a bike attachment then I bought my mum one on Zooplus that was pretty reasonably priced Infact, I keep meaning to nab it to try Kiki on it before buying one so if I bring it back to mine (I think it may be safer down the farm path here than a countrypark full of squirrels!), you're welcome to give it a go to see how safe it feels

He looks like he's enjoying himself I tried Ted with the bike before he quite liked running beside it off lead but there aren't really many places to do it round here plus i was worried he would pull me off if he decided to lunge at another dog so decided not to pursue it!
