I agree, lovely thread!

Well, these are mine...

Brandy - my first Rottie - She was the youngest dog at our club to achieve the Kennel Club Bronze, Silver and Gold certificate. She was such a placid and well behaved girl that she was elected to be the adult dog the puppies got introduced to in puppy-classes as she could be trusted implicitly. She was also the only Rott in the dog-display team and we often got comments from people saying they didn't realize they could be so well behaved. She changed more peoples perspectives of Rotties I lost count, that made me so proud of her:smt002

Jasper - German Shepherd- Being so obedient - especially the day a Red Deer jumped out of cover and pelted off with him starting to chase, he dropped in an instant down the minute I shouted. Only regret was nobody saw it, I could have cried with pride that day! He was truly beauty with brains

Ozzy - Rottie - Achieving KC Bronze Certificate at about 8mths old. Achieving second place at the only two shows he ever got to go to.

Marius - Rottie - I am proud of him all the time - the best is yet to come!

Winning Best in show and Northern Inuit of the year at Oldham last year with Saskia, one of my very naughty disobedient girls (so i was told lol), as i only booked her in at the last minute,as i wasnt going to do the main classes So i was EXTRA proud, (and gobsmacked)

ANYA having her first litter of pups this year, after a hard time and ending with 3 beautiful babies, she looked after them untill they went to there new homes including cleaning up after them till they were 7 weeks old,she is such a star and it makes me proud to be her mum

With Jack, it's watching him playing and being happy, knowing what a terrible time he had before we got him, and looking back at the nervous boy he was, it's hard to imagine he's the same dog, the trust he has in us makes me really proud

Sorry bit long!

The other time that springs to mind was about 10 years ago, when I had my old BC and a mix of Lassie x summit else, he was a bit smaller than my BC, but bigger than a Lassie, and as soft and gentle as anything, but he had this way about him that no other dog messed with him, he always greated every dog with his tail held high and slowly wagging, but his body language said 'hi I'm friendly, dont mess with me mate' well getting on with it one of our usuall walks, I'd heard of a bully of a man getting over there with 4 big dogs, one was ment to be a Rottie, the other xbreads but of similar size, apparantly all the dogs were ment to be like their owners, big aggressive bullys, (i'm not saying all Rotties or xbreeds are like this, just his dogs ), I'd never seen him, but kept an eye out for him, well this one day we came across him on a narrow path leading into the woods, he stood their, puffing himself up to his biggest, with his 4 dogs surrounding him, 'get out the way' he growled at me, I just stood there for a second, 'if you dont get out the f*****g way, my dogs will get you out the way' I saw red, and my reply was 'I don't think so, you see Ben here, if yours start, he will most definatly finish it, and you will be picking up the pieces of your dogs wondering which bit belongs to which dog', (I didn't know how Ben would react to 4 dogs) with that he ordered his dogs to attack, Ben lept to our defence, he only had to go about a yard forward barking, his lip curled and i couldn't believe what happened next, all his 4 dogs turned tail and fled, so did the bloke with a very red face, I've never been so relieved about anything in my life, and was so proud of Ben, it bought tears to my eye, I know I should have just let him get away it, my dogs health and safety are more imortant, but with hindsight I'm glad I didn't, and if your wondering what about the BC, well he was hiding behind me!

Far too many very proud moments, but going back many years the moment an elderly lady knocked at our door and she was clutching a little Yorkie, practically in tears she told us that the Yorkie had pulled his lead out of her hand and run into the road, and James, our LabxCollie had dashed after him, picked him up and returned him to his owner.

Lots of times in the showring, and when my stroppy and disobedient Dobe won "The most improved dog" at the local obedience club!! and my beloved Kleine became the first German Pinscher to gain the KC Good Citizen award.

Oh I could go on and on so I'd better stop now, Kath

I think the first was Taz winning Best Puppy in Show at the Nordic (05) and then winning his Junior class at Crufts (06) which also gave him his final points for his Junior Warrant and then at the end of 2006 getting his Show Certificate of Merit I can say that Taz is definatley my man:smt052

Jenny was chasing a rabbit and she actually came when I called her off it!!! You sighthound folks can understand how difficult this is and how pleased I am with my little girl!

I'm really proud about everything about Jenny. She'a a really well-behaved dog. She's so calm in the house! And she's improved so much with other dogs since we got her! And we have such great times on the agility field!... I could go on forever about my perfect little angel... lol

When my male Cavalier Jobi was a puppy (one of ours), for reasons I am unable to explain, he was nervous and withdrawn. His two sisters in the litter were confident and friendly, we socialised them in the proper manner, so I can only assume it was genetics or just ‘one of those things.’ He would hide behind the sofa when the only others in the room were his own family of mother, brothers and sisters, my wife and I. He was a loner and did not seem to enjoy life. Taking him out of doors was a trial, he would bark at everything, simply everything.

So I started taking him out alone, just him and I, every night on the same short, quiet route, month after month until he overcame his fear of cars, bushes, wind, cats, corners, etc. etc. through familiarity. I gradually extended the walk until he was content with 30 minutes at a time and relatively relaxed.
This went on for about 15 months, but I sensed that he needed something more, he was bursting with energy.

So I took him onto the beach and, reasonably certain that I could recall him (he always kept very close to me anyway) let him off the lead for the first time. It was a leap of faith, but he was transformed. He ran and ran and ran and loved every moment of his freedom to move unhindered, far away from any distraction or potential problem. He was reborn. After about an hour of running, he looked at me, exhausted, wet but happy, as if to say ‘thank you.’ I was so proud of him at that moment - I can remember my feelings so very clearly, it brought tears to my eyes.

Today he is still slightly nervous, but no longer hides, is ‘one of the pack’, a dear and loving companion and loves life. We go to the beach as often as we can and he never tires of running, wading, swimming until it’s time to go home.

He may not save lives, be able to help others, nor win prizes, but he is still my beautiful boy.

Sounds like you really helped him a lot. A lovely story.
