Eating too much food?

In the last couple of days both Max and Murphy's appetites have gone through the roof.

They are both eating 3 meals a day.

Max is eating the amount at the top end of his weight group (he is about 4.5 - 5 stone), but hasn't started to fill out yet.

Murphy is (already) eating solid unsoaked Beta puppy. He has the maximum amount recommended for his brred and weight.

They both polish off their dried food very quickly and then wait by their bowls for more.

I've never seen Max eat like this before (he has always been a slow, fairly uninterested eater).

Both have been recently wormed (Max within the last month and Murphy this week).

Should I be worried, or is it just that they're both getting a lot of exercise and stimulation which has increased their appetites?

I think you'll find that Max is enjoying his food more because there is some competition in the house, I don't mean that in a bad way, when raising pups they all have great appetites and then, when the owners get them home they worry because they aren't eating so well. Its because there isn't any need to gobble it for fear of someone else eating it, this is a reversal for Max.

If they aren't having loose tummies because of over eating I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure it is probably just a phase they are going through.

I would mention that I raised both my litters on Beta Puppy but had to mix Pedigree puppy in with it as the Beta alone didn't seem to satisfy them.

Isn't it about time we saw some more photos?

I agree with Scorpio Star was the same until Finn came along. If she was not fast enough he ate her food

Max is probably a bit more active at home now that Murphy is here so might be burning off more energy.

Phew, thanks guys!

It'll do Max good to have more competition when eating (although, of course, they're eating different foods! D'oh!)

If I was you I'd be over joyed!

A house with a puppy that eats all it's food and a finicky eater that eats all it's food must be a happy one!

Long may it continue!

Yeah, but now I'm thinking of the cost of flippin' Beta puppy at £20+ a bag!!!

Seriously considering gradually switching Murphy over to the CSJ Little Champ! Puppy (since Max is on CSJ Champ!)...

Yeah I would, but gradually obviously!

I think CSJ is cheaper, but better quality too TBH.

We've gone through almost half a sack of Beta Puppy in 2 weeks

I kept Max on Puppy until he was about 8 months old....

I guess it's up to you. If Murphy is settled and is not showing any signs of stress, eg vomiting, diarrhea etc then I'd give CSJ Puppy a go.

Trouble is with CSJ if you buy a big bag and it doesn't suit Murphy, well, you're kinda stuck with it!

But then that's what Ebay is for!
