Castration coat

Apparently Woody's woolly bits are a result of his castration? He has it on his bum and side of legs.

I'm not fussed by it and I still think he's gorgeous, but I was just wondering if it will gradually get worse over time?

Any ideas? It's nearly a year after the operation itself.

hi,
Suki (cocker) was spayed just under 12 months ago, and the last couple of weeks has developed the woolly look, like she has just been bathed.
I cant answer your question but I think you may have answered mine, I couldnt work out why she had gone woolly lol.

I think people mentioned this before you had him done, its an awful side effect of castration in coated dogs. It will probably get worse yes, on his head and often their body loses all the lovely silky coat and that gets fluff on it too.

Sometimes Stripping the coat can help.

Have you ever stripped his coat? A coat King may help as well.

In my experience it gets worse with age.

Yes usually, it ruins the coat completely.

Im guessing that would be a nightmare for a breed/dog that loves diving into water
