Just saw this in my local paper, someone selling staff pups,
Whiteand red&white £250
Brindles £200.

So they want £50 more for white&reds,

This is ridiculous,

Crazy eh. I have seen blue pups go for £800 and the rest of the litter for £400.

I mean the way I look at it each pup has an equal chance of being good (good dogs come in all colours) regardless of colouring, a red or blue pup does not guarantee that it will be more special than a white or black. Nor does it cost more to whelp & raise one specific colour from the next so I guess its down to supply & demand and of course ultimatley to line the "breeders" pockets.

A decent breeder will charge a standard rate for all pups whether they are blue, fawn pink or red lol.

Yep Pete sadly enough that seems average at the moment usually if you look through E & M and others they go from anywhere between £800 - £1500

Like I have said before they keep selling them as "rare" blues but how long can they stay rare with the amount on the market just now lol.

I may start selling some rare brindles lol.

Very true CBT, I dont have a problemwith that, the problem I have is when peole start getting ripped off like the above examples or when breeders start charging X amount for one pup then double for the next just because of colour. Just seems slightly unfair. I mean £500 to me seems a lot for a Stafford so when we are talking about over a grand I just get gobsmacked that there are people out there willing to pay as much especially when you look around your likely to find the same but for less.......

If you think about it, being ripped off means to buy something which is faulty, not as described or defective in some way.
If someone pays £1000 for a blue staffie and gets a healthy, normal blue staffie, they havent really been "ripped off" cos they have bought something they were prepared to pay that amount of money for, the fact that there are cheaper puppies elsewhere often escapes their notice!

If they buy a blue staff for £1000 and then spot some with just as good breeding for £350 and they feel cheated, then IMO its their own fault for not doing enough research or having the patience to wait for a puppy which is better priced.
If they feel ripped off they have only themselves to blame.

But if they spend all that money and the pup is faulty in some way then I agree they are being ripped off.

Its like my OH at xmas he bought a huge gigantic telly and then a couple weeks later in the sales they were selling it at about half the price, he was livid but he wasnt technically ripped off because if hed been patient and waited he would have got a better price (he didnt like it when I told him that lol lol )

Point taken....to an extent. I agree that they should do more research when buying dogs I suppose if the demand wasnt there there would be no need to supply (at those prices anyway ) but thats just the way I am afraid.

I think to charge £1,000 for a stafford is way off regardless of its colour or pedigree and I do think when breeders start charging ridiculous prices it can only be to line their pockets moreso when you see one pup going for £400 and the next which is blue going for £800 (seems to be happening a lot). Its like trying to sell an escort worth £500 for £2000 just because it has been painted pink lol. Still the same on the inside just a slightly different exterior, not a better car in any way just a more pleasing colour (to some lol).....
