Missing whippet found after more than a year

I had an email a couple of days ago from a man saying that he had bought a whippet. He had taken it to the vets for a check up and asked for it to be scanned. He was chipped and it was flagged that the dog was a stolen dog.

The man had contacted the owner who suggested he contact me to verify the dog was stolen. I confirmed that it was true and the dog was stolen in march last year.

The moral of the story is don't give up hope and also keep an eye on the dogs for sale ads. This dog was advertised for sale on preloved but the details for him were wrong no photo was put on the advert.

sad for the man who bought him, but good on him for getting the dog scanned. How happy must the original owners be ??

It sounds like the poor dog has been passed round from pillar to post. I hope he is reunited with his owners?

Sorry yes I forgot to add the man gave the dog back to his owner.

They don't know were he has been whether he has been with the same person or past around we will never know unless he learns to talk.

Apparently he wasn't in too bad a condition but his coat was scabby and horrible.

His owner isover the moon to get him back she says he's followed her everywere since he got home. Which was incidently exactly 3 years to the day that she originally got him.

I'm so pleased for the original owner

Like Brundog, I can't help feeling sorry for the guy who bought him though -hopefully he wouldn't have had time to get too attached.

Lets hope the police are interested enough to track down the thieves.

The police were involved at the start but didn't want to know.

The dogs owner does take in rescue lurchers and whippets in her area and the man had a rescue whippet she had ready to go to a new home but unfortunatley he wouldn't settle on his own. He had obviously spent his life with other dogs and didn't take to being on his own. I haven't managed to speak to her since so don't know what happened.
