I would think pavement would be safer because dogs avoid eliminating on it if they can. I would keep him away from posts and other likely marking targets.
you obviously dont know london!.it is no way safer,DO NOT RISK IT!

I hope you read and are following the advice I gave you in post #10. Puppies need far more in the way of socialization before they are 12 weeks old than a few visits form other dogs.

Those advising keeping it in a bubble need to go back and read the links I provided.

I hope your puppy is continuing to do well, it sounds like you are doing a good job with him.

I would not take this puppy out until he is vaccinated properly, it is a huge risk. There isn't much point in the socialisation if the dog doesn't survive through catching parvo, with all respect Labman maybe Parvo isn't a major concern in your area.

If you do decide to take him out don't put him on the ground unless you take newspaper to put him down onto.

There are plenty of well socialised dogs out there whose owners didn't take this sort of risk.

Enrol him in a local dog training club as soon as he can go out I am sure he will be fine.

labman......if you have read any of my posts regarding puppies and socialisation this is not the case,i advise people to take their puppy EVERWHERE WITH THEM !! trains, tubes, supermarkets, schools etc but NOT on the ground, london is high risk as ive said before.i have also worked with dogs for MANY years like you, but do not say 'my way is the only way' i have seen 3 out of 4 cases of parvo dogs die in my practise alone this year......it is avoidable without keeping a pup 'in a bubble'.
believe it or not we actually 'sing from the same hymn sheet' on a lot of things.

Thanks people. I've already been carrying him around everywhere but yeah, I guess I wont put him in the floor afterall. And maybe change my vet too. His weight seems to be fine too but since yesterday I've realised he seems to be drinking ALOT of water which is rather unusual.

Puppies do drink a lot of water, more than adult dogs. I think its because they have smaller bladders, so you don't need to worry if he's fine in other ways. Chip would empty his bowl, go to the garden and then go right back to his water on his way in. I think he had a straight through system
