Scotland

Hi all, can anyone give me the name of a nice town/city in Scotland to visit, my dad really wants to go on a train journey up north but only know the main city names, and i would like to take him somewhere slightly off the beaten track, any ideas gratefully recieved.

Perhaps Aviemore and then go off to the Cairngorms? Might be a bit remote though? What about Fort William - it's lovely

edinburgh is fantastic the history is wonderful yet the nightlife is brilliant! if you are looking for a more peaceful place then auchendean is more appropriate this is a very quiet stunning place of the highlands im thinking of going there myself. its by dulnain bridge close to inverness! if you wish i can email you the details of the brochure which im sure you will agree is lovely.

:smt023 I agree with Ash, Edinburgh is wonderful, There is the old city underground and the Castle up the hill. It is so historic and really good night life.
Best Wishes,
Anne.
