Woody's first clip - how NOT to clip a Springer ;o)

Before:

After (grade 3):

After, after (grade 1) EEK!!:

I miss my little fluff monster, but to be fair this will keep him MUCH cooler on our camping trips, he's been really struggling.

What do you think?

Bear in mind I have no idea about hairy dogs!!

I think he looks fine on a Grade 1, although he has some tufty bits near his feet that could do with a tidy up.

Besides, it's only fur/hair.... it'll grow back if you're not happy with it; and as you say, if the weather continues to be really hot, he'll feel much better without his coat!

P.S. I love short-haired dogs!

LOL, thanks chaps.

I don't mind it like this (although it wasn't the best job) as really the most important thing is him staying as cool as possible. I just prefer him all shaggy and scruffy ;o)

Can I also add that this clipped boy is the one who is completely vet fearful and for a while wouldn't even let me clean his ears! I am SOOOOOOOOOO proud of him for letting us clip him, he really has come a long way.

I think the bowl of chipolatas helped greatly ;o)

Awww, he looks really cute...I would have clipped his ears too but then thats what we do with the setters so seems normal to us loonies that own them

As you say, his comfort is far more important, he can swim and run through the bushes without fear of getting all sorts caught in his coat.

Hope you have a great time xx

I didn't want to push it, I was so surprised he let us go this far!! I'm going to furminate his ears to see if that helps. He has got abit of a lollipop head ;o)

He looks very smart. After a couple of weeks it will not look as if he's even been clipped, he'll just look short haired.
