Just had a look, in limit dog, according to Higham press all placings were withheld
Fair enough withhold 1st place and give out from 2nd but all placings......

It's a KC rule that if you withhold 1st, 2nd and 3rd then you MUST withhold other placings too. The first 3 places would qualify for Crufts (and maybe a Stud Book number too? - not sure which band Rough Collies are in) so if the judge felt that in his opinion there wasn't a dog there worthy of the award he was duty bound to withhold. It's not a decision any judge takes lightly.

Just seems a bit harsh, but never thought about the stud book.

I was watching an Open Show on Saturday and the judge we had was scared of the dogs

quite weird! She was very hesitant, which gave Dan the willies and made him much worse than he would have been. I had had loads of people going over him prior to going in the ring and he was fine and settled, then she came along and approached him like he's a wild animal or something! He's only a six month old baby for crying out loud, and was shy, but she thought he may bite because of this. Estrelas are not bitey dogs anyway, and Dan's sister was a bit shy in her class, yet she got a first over Rio's sisters who showed much better. (I think the fact that the judge knows their breeder, who was handling Dan's sister was the reason she got a first) Incidentally, it's not just me who thinks that. ALL the Estrela exhibitors said the same. Face judge.

I was at Leeds we got 1st in yearling with Vera SBT and 2nd with Kirk puppy Lakeland, but only 2 in his class

Well done. The entries in some breeds were very poor, Im sure they are going down again!

We had a very poor turnout in on of my breed but i put that down to no tickets on offer. There was only one puppy dog entered and only 2 in junior dog. We had a very red kind of day
