Dog dies after attack in Norwich

Sad to hear recently about an incident on one of our regular dog walks around a woods on the outskirts of Norwich.

I had heard about it from the staff in a dog home charity shop I went to. There was a lady with 2 Boxers pushing a child in a pushchair around the woods and the Boxers went for a Whippet. The dog had puncture wounds and had to be put to sleep after the attack

I guess Whippets don't have much in the way of fat or fur to protect them sadly so are more vulnerable if they do get bitten.

Apparently the Whippet owner usually keeps out of the way of other dog walkers and has his dogs on leads (true-I have seen him) as his dogs are a bit barky reactive at other dogs.

Poor owner and poor dog. Made me nervous at first but then I have an alarm and a pet corrector spray and don't know anyone else with 2 Boxers so if I see any hurtling towards Parker and Izzy I can defend them if necessary but I would guess that the woman will keep a low profile and not walk there now as it has spread around the dog-walking fraternity.

So very, very sad and very scary for other dog walkers using the area.

That's awful, poor dog and poor owner - he must be heartbroken.

I really hope the owner of those Boxers will take steps to ensure this can never, ever happen again.

How awful Poor litte whippet. You're right...they have no protection at all from a fat covering so what might just injure another dog will probably kill a sighthound. I'm so gutted for this man. He must be heartbroken.
Run free and fast little whippet

Such a sad and tragic story. I have no idea how the owner will get over witnessing his dog being attacked like that - I know I wouldn't

I hope the owner reported this to the police and the dog warden.

Shocking.
