im so proud of my boy!

earlier, me and jake went for a walk in the park. he was on his lead, and we went to cross the bridge but a woman was crossing with a boxer and a whippet x (both onlead). as the bridge is narrow, we waited for them to cross, as the woman got closer she asked if her boxer could meet jake. i, of course, said yes and she explained that the boxer (cant remember her name, was something like kiera or kara or something ) had been seriously attacked when she was a pup by two greyhounds, she was apparently very badly cut and ripped open poor baby. and coz of that didnt like dogs, she wasnt aggressive but was terrified of them and did whatever she could to avoid them. seeing jake was a pup though she thought she might not be scared of him.

and boy, she wasnt! at first she was a bit wary, but jake worked his magic and kept trying to get her to play and before long she was! the woman couldnt believe it! jake sniffed her all over, and she tolerated everything (which she wouldnt normally do) and they were licking each other and she even nuzzled him! i couldnt believe my boy was soooo proud of him!

im so proud of him, im hoping they will meet again and he can gradually help get her confidence up. was so sad though, coz the boxer is 3 and the whippet x is 9 and the only dog the boxer can be around is the whippet x but coz of that, she doesnt know how to play properly! she couldnt really read jakes behaviour to begin with, she managed in the end though lol.

thanks im so proud of how he is. he is my first pup, and i think we have both done great. his temperament is perfect and nothing fazes him, any situation he encounters, he deals with amazingly

Hi,

Congratulations all round I think - to you, Jake, the Boxer and or course the other owner (I'm sure she must have been just a bit nervous incase they didn't hit it off).

Hopefully Jake and the Boxer will be lifetime friends. it just goes to show how a dog can change another being's life (whether hjman or dog).

Fantastic! Well done to you all.

Laura xx
