Lost favourites - any ideas??

Hi, can anyone help me I wonder?
I have sort of adopted my OH's laptop as my desktop has bit the dust. The format for importing photos from my digital camera is different and I have got quite confused with it all. Anyway was attempting to do some importing tonight and I seem to have lost all my 'favourites' (bookmarks are they called?) I don't know where they've gone, I've got the history still but that's not really good enough. Have I deleted all of them somehow and is there anyway I can get them back. I am ok on pcs doing my own thing but can't get complicated as you may have guessed.

Have you tried typing "favorites" (note american spelling) into the search box ?
Which operating system & browser are you using ?

When I click onto my favourites now it tells me the location cannot be found and when I try now to save new stuff it won't allow me to do so. I am using Windows Vista. Do you know how to take the pc back a day?

If you google 'restore lost favorites' there seem to be a few tutorials that might be relevant.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I tried the system restore last night but it didn't work. My Tech man tells me this afternoon that it was never going to. He can't help as he doesn't know where they have gone to. I suppose it's just a case of starting over - trouble is I don't always put down passwords etc. usually just go in on favourites so am hoping I can relocate them all and of course OH is mad at me now........ I had a look at the tutorials but couldn't seem to get a grip on anything. Goodness knows how I managed to lose them.

I think I'd ask the computer man to take the hard drive out of your old machine & back up the data to a disc for you.
Then you can browse the disc & reinstall exactly what you want.
Have you looked in the recycle bin ? they must be somewhere, could be in a hidden folder.

Well I've had a look on google searches and found a good suggestion and did what they said. I 'sort of' found them but they are in the middle of a huge page of gobbledegook pertaining to the photos I had imported (I guessed that was something to do with it all) but have no idea how to deal with it now. To be honest, think I am just going to start again and hope that I haven't forgotten anything too important. My Pc man just told me that if I didn't know where I had lost them, then he couldn't find them! Maybe he isn't very adventurous?? trouble is over here everyone is an expert at stuff until you need them to do something then all of a sudden they either can't do it or they buggar it up for you, so think I will cut my losses and redo them.
Thanks for the suggestions though, much appreciated.x

If you've found them you can create a new folder & copy & paste them over one by one. A bit time consuming, but it's a fix.

My friends have just relocated to Malaga & found a computer specialist in Mollina who is very good.
Will pm you the details if they might be of use.
