Rice/ pasta

Some people have asked me why I am not adding pasta or rice to Jins diet (perhaps confusing it with the rice/chicken diet for poorly dogs..?).

What are the benefits, if any, of feeding rice or pasta.

Do any RAW feeders out there ever use it?

Thanks!

I don't feed it, coz they don't need it... I would probably assume that they are thinking of the boiled rice and chicken for sick dogs...

Rupert occasionally gets rice when hubby and I have it. He never gets pasta due to it containing wheat.

As far as I'm aware there are no benefits to feeding either rice or pasta.

I know somebody who feeds her working gundogs pasta because she says the slower release of carbs keeps them working all day (or something like that!)

I personally dont like to feed any grains, certainly not wheat, maize etc but I dont mind feeding rice if there is some knocking about. It's more digestible than other grains.

Mine get Pasta when I can be bothered to do it for them and also when my little sister has it. They get chicken and veg in with it too.

I've fed Brown Rice and Chicken too when the dogs were a little under the weather - not nice to clean up after...

No I don't feed any cereal and I would only give a small amount if I did. It needs to be well cooked to aid digestion.

Dogs don't digest grains well (that's why kibble poos are so huge and stinky, its undigested grains )

I feed Cain a little leftover rice or pasta occassional in his Kong, but wouldn't feed it regularly.

Ask them why you would add it and see them try to think of a good argument to convince you
