Two Dimensional

Can dogs see a two dimensional picture or not? I know it's a film but on 'Turner and Hooch' they say Hooch can't recognise a person from a photo because dogs can't see two dimensional picutures. Now we all often say our dogs have been watching television which is ... you guessed it, two dimesional. Can you see why I am confused?

But tv is a moving image so maybe that is why? Interesting though though.I wonder if anyone else has any other information.

no idea, but Cosmo loves Springwatch....he also loves any dog programme, other then that he ain't interested in the tele.....it could be the sounds though, I've not tried it with the sound off, there's an experiment i may try.

Breagh watches the telly and will charge at it barking if she sees a dog reardless of the sound.

Fingal & Skye don't seem to take any notice of the picture but will respond to noises such as fireworks or a dog barking.

Mine can definitely see pics on the T.V. They will sniff or even lick them if it looks like something that should be investigated!

Bruce is the only one to watch TV and he loves it to. He loves Top-dog and sit very intently with his tail wagging

ps....my son's dog Pappi, watches TV only if there are animals on...even cartoon ones...and barks at them

Back in the early 1970s, when my family had a litter of cocker spaniel puppies:

Put up a projector and screen to look at some transparencies I'd taken of the pups messing about in the garden.

Every time a puppy photo came up, it was greeted by a chorus of barks from Mum and pups. There was no doubt at all that they knew what they were seeing.
