Think it is the coarse head that is making it difficult along with the ridge that may be hackles he also seems too muscled not to have one of the heavier breeds included some where.

Yeah thats what I was thinking which is why I thought RR but Dane is also possible. Its got to be a larger breed.....Borderdawn you were saying Bull but which type are you thinking???

A lot of lurcher folk will use Bull terrier, Staff now, used to be Pit Bulls. This was because although a Lurcher would bring down a Fox, they were not primarilly designed for that purpose, being Hare/Rabbit Dogs. Salukis can bring down Deer though! By using Bull, they had a dog with much stronger, more powerful jaws that would dispatch a Fox in seconds, much like the Foxhound, only by crossing it with a Greyhound they had a very quick dog too.
