I think it's lack of education in most cases.

When we got our CKCS I was about 9 or 10 I think and my mum came home one day telling us we were going to the petshop that weekend to get a puppy.

Me being a rampant little animal rights kid gave my mum a telling off and together with my sister explained that you should buy from a breeder, NOT a petshop.

Jackie, I think in some cases it is the price!

People think that the more expensive the puppy, the better the breeder and the better the conditions.

Just seen the website

That is very concerning.

'you can see the puppies in our specialist pens'

Actually I didn't think the puppies were badly kept from what I saw - they were clean and warm and inside and the pens were cleaned out at least once a day with a hosepipe and scrubbed - I can imagine there is worse than that.

When we got Benji - price didn't really come into it - we were silly and let our hearts rule our heads and my 12 year old daughter fell in love with him and that was that

Well obviously his mum wasn't there but he was 10 weeks old when we got him and had only just gone into the kennels two days before we got him - some dogs leave their mums at 7 weeks so I don't think 10 weeks was too bad.

I am only speaking of what I saw and that was like I say 18 months ago - I can't speak for now of course because I haven't been for a long time

Just google for Dogs R Us because I don't think we are allowed to put the website on here.
