My brave dog!

The door was partly open as it is much warmer outside than inside and I saw two young men coming down the path, one with a clipboard and the other with an "official" [?] typed letter enclosed in clear plastic, which he held out as they walked down. Typical of people collecting for some charity or other.

Pereg, who was sitting in the doorway, as usual, stood up and barked to let them know she was watching them and, I like to think, protecting me. Normally this type of collector takes one look at her, turns round and scoots off, but these two, instead of turning round and walking back up again they came right to the door, the one with the letter waving it at me. All the time Pereg was barking and her hackles were raised [she is very wary of strangers] but did not move towards them and I called out that I do not give at the door.

Yes, but it is for poor people blah blah blah, but the thing is I do not and will not give at the door, so when they realised that I was not going to give them any money they muttered something, turned round and stalked up the path...

...and my brave little dog rushed after them barking her little head off - at which point they took off at a rapid rate of knots!

Oh Pereg - you are such a brave little girl, defending your mommy like that!

Ah little love, thank goodness she was fine last night, and well enough to defend 'her' property

I actually think it was rather brave - if foolhardy - of them to come right up to the door! Pereg is not big but she is not that small either, but she has a big dog's bark and being short-coated when her hackles are raised they are very obvious.

Whether she would have gone for them had they tried to come in without being invited in, I do not know as nobody has actually tried. Well, no stranger that is - she is quite happy to let people she knows in even if I am not in the room, but oh the way she chased after them when they left!

I know I should not have laughed...

... but I did!

Well done Pereg - sounds as if they would have been extra pushy if not for her.
