So sorry for you Jackie, you sound in a dreadful state. Why don't you ring the NHS direct, you won't have to lay it on either by the sounds of it, and when they ring you back, quite quickly in your case I hope, you get a lady who asks you a list of questions, and if you qualify, she then sends an ambulance straight away for you. I know it means being back again in that awful Emergency Assessment Ward, but they're all like that, coz they're so overstretched, but at least that way you get to see about 5 different doctors, then they all have a chinwag about you, and it is then that they decide whether or not you need to be admitted on a ward and get something done for you, and NOW, because by the sounds of it, you need something done right NOW, not waiting until the end of August, it's dreadful the way you've been fobbed off like this!!!

Have you got somebody else there who can ring the NHS direct for you and stress how urgent it is??? I'm sure you'll get sorted this way, we've done it ourselves when Dave has had the most humungous migraine one night, felt like his head was going to burst, and the lady on the other end of the phone asked me all the questions which I answered, he had weird things in front of his eyes too at the time, and paramedics were there within 10 minutes!

It's awful to hear you suffering like this, try and do it Jackie

I'm back Jackie. Can you ring them and tell them how much pain you are in and ask if they can give you medication in the meantime? I know that it would have to be something strong, but surely they can give you something?

Stay strong hun, I know it feels like there's no end to it, but there is. I've been where you are, when all you can think about is how much pain you are in. I wish I could come round and sit with you x

That's a brilliant idea Helena. My mum has rang NHS direct for me too and they are usually pretty good.

So sorry you are being messed around like this. My only advice would be call nhs direct try and get an ambulance out and go into hospital that way.... Its the only way to get things done quicker i think.

My mum (prior to being diagnosed with terminal brain tumour) was very ill. We went back and forth to the doctors almost every couple of days. They booked an mri scan, when it came through the appt was for 7 weeks away.

We didn't realise but by now she was having minor fits and had also lost nearly 2 stone in under 3 weeks. I was frantic and booked yet another doctors appt demanding the mri was bought forward or she would be dead by the time 7 weeks came. She cussed me for tutting at her and told me point blank that appt had been made for 7 weeks time and the was the earliest and there was nothing she could do.

That evening i was talking to mum on the phone and she had a grand mal seizure, i drove like lightening to her house, got in and sat her in a chair. Called an ambulance. Casualty checked her over, insisted it was a migrane and told her to go home. Got to the exit and she had another grand mal.... at this point i was screaming and shouting....

cutting long story short she was admitted and had an mri next day which diagnosed her tumour.

You have to scream and shout and demand the attention as unfortunately in my experience you don't get it otherwise. In your shoes i would be demanding to be seen at a&e,

The wavey lines in front of your eyes i had when i was pregnant, it was like see through worms floating.... i was told it was a sign of high blood pressure and was told to go to hospital for a check up there and then... Don't know if this sounds like what you have been experiencing, if it is i would get it checked out.

If you go down the emergency route i am sure you will be treated quicker, i really hope things get sorted out quickly for you, hugs to you x I am sorry i can't be of more help really just make sure your being heard, and demand the attention you need x

Oh you're so, so right there Shiba. My 40 yr. old friend had a terrible headache when she bent down to feed the rabbits on Christmas Eve, she then starting being sick - projectile vomit and almost passed out. Luckily for her, her 10 yr. old daughter rang her Nan and from there they got an ambulance to her. She ended up in the Casualty ward, and was just about to be told it was a migraine and she could go home, BUT, her mouthy, arrogant husband (thank God he is like that!!!), went off on one, INSISTED that they send her for an MRI scan and NOW! He got his wish, she had an MRI scan there and then when they WERE going to send her home, and it turned out she had a brain heammorhage!!! They immediately rushed her off to a neurological hospital and operated on her head one side, and whilst she was under having the brain surgery, she had yet another bleed the other side, so they fixed that for her too! She is now fully recovered (took a long while) 2 years down the road, and is back at work and fine, whereas things like this normally result in death, and if it HADN'T of been for her insistant husband she probably wouldn't be here now, well she just wouldn't!

You have to shout at the right people, well perhaps not shout, but be insistant that something gets done, make them realise just how much you are suffering to get anything done without the long wait, coz sometimes, the wait is just too long and you're gone! Ask the doctor if you can pay privately (it's usually £100) to see the same specialist within a week, that he might want you to wait 6 weeks or more to see! I've done that, and if I hadn't, I wouldn't be here now typing this! What price your health?

The only way you're going to get any result Jackie, is to end up in hospital via an ambulance, otherwise you'll be fobbed off, put on a waiting list and end up suffering like you are for weeks on end, you poor thing, and it's just not good enough. The doctor will send letter to the Specialist, he'll put you on a waiting list, etc. etc. etc. and that's not what you want is it. YOu want to get something done now, and once you're back in hospital they WILL do something, it's more than they're job's worth to just leave you lying there in agony! I know it's awful in there, and the fact that you might have discharged yourself previously will not look good for you, but if you can grin and bear it again, that's where you really need to be I'm afraid. I wish you all the very best, and most of all I wish you out of this constant pain you're in. Take care.x

I agree with you Shiba. My GP kept saying there was nothing wrong with me when I was being sick every morning, lost about 2 stone in weight and had a constant headache.

In the end I got into Casualty (won't tell you how exactly, but it was a very dangerous choice I made) where they kept me for 18 hours in the Assessment ward then trid to send me home! My mum refused to leave the hospital. She sat in the chair next to my bed and insisted I was admitted for an MRI scan.

Luckily, the consultant I got was a good one and when he heard they were trying to discharge me he said no I needed to be admitted.

Had an MRI scan 2 days later and they found a brain tumour the size of an orange. When they transferred me to Middlesbrough and they had a look at the scans there, they told me I had 2 weeks left to live unless they managed to remove it.

So if my mum hadn't have refused to take me home, I would have died for sure.

i cannot believe how others have suffered too

makes my problem seem tiny compared to others

well went doctors this morning, almost passed out on the way my hubby is on nite shift so a good friend walked slowly with me
the doctor said yes he can see i am very ill but he cannot rush the neurologist as they are very busy people

but he did say he was very concerned for my sight and the swelling on the back of my neck

he has advised me to go to A&E at a different hospital (he did offer to get me a ambulance) and tell them if they need to they can call him

so with hubby being on nites i cannot leave the baby parrots without being fed and there is no one who could feed them

so i am gonna go tonight when hubby finishes work, i have taken some tramadol and they are helping a tiny bit

am gonna rest as my eyesight isnt great right now

but i will keep you all updated on how i go

and thank you all so much for showing care and concern towards me, it means so much
