Have you booked it yet?

I too was very wary, as are we all, put it off, but in the end it wasn't so bad, plastic not metal used.

It is most important that you try to relax when it is being done, it is much easier for the nurse and more pleasant for you. Let your mind go blank just lay back and relax, it it all over in a few seconds.

Argh all day I've been watching this thread but not daring to post as I didn't make my appointment

I won't have a chance until Wednesday afternoon to make the call ....... but I will do it then

Sorry to be such a woose but I'm terrified; however this thread has made me realise that my fear is shared by many and as such I'm not alone in my worries!

Thank you all for your posts......and I'm glad a few other peoples memories have been pricked

Well!

I have been putting mine off for a long while now. Finally thought, right! So I booked it.

It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. We had a good laugh actually - I nearly shot her in the face with the whatsit thingy She asked if I had been doing my pelvic floors already, as I apparently have good muscles

Just grit your teeth and go for it. Once you walk out of the Dr's you will start to forget about it, then you won't need another one for a long while.

The more you think about it, the more you will tense up about it.

Try looking at some deep breathing exercises, so when you are sitting there you can just focus and relax.. Also a bit of lavender oil somewhere will help you feel calm
