Dog friendly cottage needed, any advice?

Hi, all you wonderful dogsey peeps!

I wonder if you could offer any ideas. My husband has just managed to get some time off work in october, and we want to go away for 5 days or so with our dog.

Our holiday must haves are:

- Dog friendly cottage or similar, preferably with its own secure garden area.
- Can be in Somerset/Wiltshire/North Devon/Gloucestershire/South Wales areas.
- Quiet and peacefull in a secluded rural location.
- It will be just 2 of us and small dog, so it doesn't have to be that big.
- As luxurious as money allows!

**Edited to add - we would like to be able to have nice walks etc nearby for little molly to explore!

I have had a look at Centre Parcs, as I understand they accept dogs - however its not as secluded as we had liked and have heard that it is dog tolerant rather than dog friendly

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Thanks in advance

Centre parcs is not good for dogs. You can't take them in any of the indoor areas so basically you have your lodge and the grounds, not as secluded as your own cottage.

Putsborough (between Croyde & Woolacombe in North Devon) is great. There is a brilliant beach where you can walk right round to Woolacombe and dogs are allowed on the beach all year round.

Try the website below - I think there are some links to accommodation.

http://www.putsborough.com/

Good luck.

We have just been to Shropshire with our dog. Lovely cottage with own garden use of meadow, and lots of nice walks, the really good ones need driving too. Will find out the details when OH gets home and post them for you this evening if Shropshire is any good for you.

Thanks for your replies! Just taken a look at Putsborough Irish Setter Mu, and it looks fab, just what we are looking for. Will share details with husband when he gets home and see if it gets the seal of approval.

Just about to take a look at Dumpledale farm - (what a great name!)

Again thank you,

Ruth & Molly

I know you said cottage, but my friend is going here:

http://www.staghunters.com/

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...n_England.html

the Hotel of course is called the StagHunters

next week and has been going there for donkey's years! It's soooo dog friendly she takes her 3 dogs one of which is a deerhound it's right in the middle of exmoor not a building or car in sight, the food is to die for and she loves it! I know it's a hotel, but they only do people with dogs, and it's cheap although very clean. I've put up the Trip Advisor on it so you can read people's comments about it!

Last year we stayed at Hartleton Retreat in Ross on Wye. It's a converted stables, 3 bedrooms, set in something like three acres, completely fenced and within the grounds is a second fenced paddock with a gate which your dog(s) can have full use of. The owner's cottage is next door, but to be honest we hardly saw him only when he go home from work in the evening. The cottage itself was spotless.

We booked through Hoseasons.
