here are strict rules, one of them being do not approach someone elses dog unless it is after class and the owner is happy for you to, dont let your dog approach another dog and disturb training, dont let your dog eyeball another dog etc
It's all very well having strict rules but people being people forget and do things they've been told not to do and the trainer doesn't always see it in time to prevent it. Never hurts to watch out for them

Location, name of trainer and what you say about the rules....wonder if you're off to the same club I took Rupert to for a while.

I don't really have anything bad to say about the classes themselves or the trainers. Some of the other owners there though...ugh. Not only did I have a mutt but I had a badly behaved mutt and I'd get eye rolls and sighs from several of them whenever it was my turn to do something or whenever I was struggling. Then there were the snide remarks when the trainers were busy or out of earshot. There were only 3 or 4 people like that but it was enough to make me feel uncomfortable there. I ended up finding another class that I could get to more easily and where I could work at Ruperts pace without disrupting the whole class.

This is going back about 5 or 6 years now, chances are you won't run into the same peope I did I think with a less problematic dog I'd have really enjoyed the classes.

Sarah that sounds awful! I have a badly behaved mutt in Summer so I have a lot more patience... If I get any tuts or eye rolls when I start taking Keira I would certainly get uncomfortable too, not sure I'd be able to keep my gob shut though, weren't all those people lucky to be so perfect! Hopefully there is a better bunch there now

i dont like 'puppy partys' as such.

my last few practise's i have worked at my dogs have been the 'socialisers' usually Flea then Tupac,i liked one to ones with the clients.Flea was very good at making pups much less anxious about visiting the big scary vet....got to the point peeps were knocking on the door when appointment times were over asking if they could 'play' lol

Lol, that's what I said to them a few times. I offered to let them take Rupert and show me how it was done too but none of them took me up on that offer, guess they didn't want a mere mutt making them look bad

As I say, it was a minority that were like that but handling Rupert can be stressful enough without that sort of thing going on.
