Eating Water?

Im having a problem with Tikaani. He is now 13 months old and has a growing habit (probably taught by a norty PRT called Toby!) of not drinking his water but 'eating' it.
Paws go in the bowl and his whole nose, he eats it like he's been in the Siberian desert for 6 months without water!
With it eaten he then takes the surplus to wherever he goes next, needless to say me & the kids run for cover!
Any ideas why he does this and how to stop it?
From a very wet Luz!
