Yes, my Lurcher Mia had this diagnosis, also at 14 years of age. She had the pericardium drained twice, but it was refilling over a 6 - 7 day period. She would then collapse due to the pressure on the heart muscle itself. My vet said the most common cause was a tumour in the heart muscle, and we decided we were not prepared to continue to have her drained at such frequent intervals.
It was a sad time for us as she seemed well enough between these procedures, but we couldn't keep subjecting her to so many GA's at that age. I'm sorry to not have a happier ending to relate, I do hope your girl turns out to have a different condition.
