Random - Thank you! He's a cracking pony, very well bred and was bred to do the job he did so i guess the breeders were happy! lol

As far as the arguments go, you shouldn't discount a horse because of one or two small conformation faults, but with these two i would definately "shop around". I certainly wouldnt buy a horse from a sale in England, Ireland, America or anywhere else My boy came directly from the breeder via a dealer who specialises (or did back then!!) in Connemaras. I wouldnt buy one you dont know some history of though..

Charlie's conformation isn't perfec. Its pretty good, and he's done well showing (planning to do some more WHP) but he's a bit cow hocked.. No bad thing for jumping and not a major fault, so it doesn't bother me. But it wouldn't make HOYS showing quality, or breeding quality! But for a childs pony, no matter their experience and confidence, temperment is the most important thing IMO One thing about Charlie that is perfect is his wonderful temperment..

Good luck with the pony search!!

UPDATE,.
got another txt from arabella,, saying they didnt get the horse, {meaning that the gelding allana liked wasnt suitable} but they bought the mare? she was a tad over weight in the photo, but when seen today they felt she was the best they had seen, so bought her, they are going back down tomorow to collect her, now the other thing that was muddled up is,, the gelding has been broken, he is also older than I stated, hes rising five,, but the mare is also rising five, not sure if arabella muddled it up or if they did, but the bonus is,,she is unbroken, so a nice clean sheet, will let you know how it goes tomorow, I will pop down to the farm after dog training, and try to get some photos, x

Just a thought Shona, the Grey Mare has foal at foot, is that an old photo, or is the Foal still at foot, what age is the foal.

My mistook, not so much got the horse muddled, more the owner,, I had it in my head that he was owned by the stud dauntless prince is at,, which is just up the road, but to be fair to KOD he was so widely used, that a fair amount of horses sired by him just didnt do it for me, Im not a huge DP fan as well though,, but your lad looks lovely,

Its always exciting to get a new horse, hope it all turns out well for you , and you have many years of pleasure out of her.

Are they not bothering to have her vetted Shona?

Yes KD has been widely used , but he has undoubtibly produced many fabulous horse...Lances Sire for one, "Kildalton King" .

Everyone has their preferred type , mine are the big IDX Sport Horses, I fall hard for a big Working/Show Hunter Type.

Good Luck with your new girl. What is her name??

Yes she will be vetted,, but tbh most vets dont pass horses for one reason or another,, normaly a minor problem but she will be checked,

I hope they're happy with her and that she is suitable You really cant tell a horse is good until you meet them and ride them and as long as they like her thats the most important thing!

But yeah, they really should have a full vetting done..

Hi thanks jessica,

when I talked to Arabella last night, she said the mare had been on the hill for most of the year, she is a bit lean apparently,
So the plan is, bring her back, give her six weeks to settle, during this time, she will be handled daily, As she has been running on the hill it will take some time for her to become happy with the new routine, turned out in the day stabled at night, having feet lifted, picked out, that sort of thing, Not sure she has ever had shoes on,, but Ian will begin with triming her feet, once she is happy with that she will be shod, having came from a very quiet area, there will be so much for her to get used to, traffic, tractors, cows, sheep, when you think on it, she has a fairly stressful few weeks ahead of her, poor sole, but she will be in good hands,

after six weeks we will slowly begin the process of backing her,
Allana wants to back her herself,, when Arabella and I talked about it last night we decided on this!

we will back her,, on the sneeky,, and not let on to allana

when she is ok with me or arabella on her back, we will then allow alana to back her, {allana not knowing that we have done this already} that way, should she play up when backed, allana will not be hurt, or lose confidence, the opposite will happen, when she backs polly she will feel very confident and happy,

thats the plan so far,, its just a toss now for who backs her first,,, me or Arabella,
shona x
