No matter what, the tennis ball is mine all mine!!!! (JRT & NI)

Yesterday Tonto stole a tennis ball from the neighbours. (well they leave them all over the place so fair game as far as he is concerned). So last night he was quite happy stripping it and then eating it, covetting every little piece of rubber until today there is only a third of it left. He's much better at stripping tennis balls than Inca and he knows it, so stands his ground if she even attempts to get it.

This morning I was having a leisurely egg and soldiers in the lounge.
The dogs know to go to their imaginary basket when we eat, and I notice he is still carrying his prized ball so Inca can't get it....

Here is his face as I ask 'WHAT have you got Tonto?'

Then slowly, as I am eating my egg he starts to tire....

Until eventually he drifts away, tennis ball still in his mouth, only peeking when he heard the flash on the camera...

The ball is his no matter what.

They are a cute pair

I love the name too, Tonto, that is fab he is soo sweet I am a big JRT fan, I have had several and they are fantastic dogs.

Inca is a stunner, I don't think she is thta bothered about the ball
I hope Tonto and his ball, what is left of it will be v.happy together.

Brilliant, he's not going to give it up.....mind I don't think he realises but Inca does not seem to be at all interested in the ball

Thanks everyone

Ah, now you see they've got you all fooled.
When we eat, they go into that imaginary bed (where their old beanbag used to be before they created their own snowfall with it ), and when they are in the imaginary bed they pretend to be asleep. They always do.
The moment they hear cutlery on an empty plate they are in the kitchen before we are!

Trust me, Inca wanted that ball too, but was just abiding by the rules of the imaginary bed.
