Ribs

I'm a bit worrid about molly she's on 4 meals a day and two short walks a day she seems fine just a bit unhappy lately. she gets loads of attention and play time and sleep time.
another thing is that she seems to be loking a bit thinner than usual. how visable should a boxers ribs be?

a worrid boxer lover!

Boxers are really skinny as they grow. Their ribs are really visible. Finn looks like a skeleton at the moment. I asked today at the vet if he was ok weight wise and she said he was looking good.

Will try and find a pic and let you see how thin he is.

Here they are Vet said today as long as there is a thin covering of fat over the ribs it is ok.

Although if you think Molly is not well I would take her to the vet and get her checked over.

Finn has been like that right from when we got him and all along the vet has commented on him. Says she prefers them lean rather than all puppy fat.

boxers can look ribby untill they have finished growing as long as they aren't sticking out or you cant feel the ribs she will be ok.
they should go through a lanky stage all legs and no body untill they stock up and the chest gets wider/deeper.
the best way to judge it is the weight as long as she is gaining dont worry.

I believe that, with very slight pressure, you should be able to feel the ribs and the vertebrae on any dog
