Update on Wicca,
yesterday was a bad day, the dressing had to come off completely as a pressure sore had developed on her hock, my vet is worried as the dressing was just a really well padded wrap over the pins, the hock is very swollen & painful. we have tried to contact the specialist but had to leave messages with the receptionist as the orthopod is too busy !! & will ring me back, 36hrs down the line, 4 messages & no phone call either to me or my vet NOT IMPRESSED. she is now on a/biotics as precaution but would really like the specialist opinion as to whether this is to be expected or no, i am really angry even if a receptionist rang back would have been something, just makes me think he doesn't care, happy to do the job, heres the bill, but thats where it all ends then your on your own.
i just want it to be alright for Wicca & a bit of reassurance.
thanks for listening to my rant, pic of leg below
X K

Just caught this so sorry to read about Wicca. I would also be very worried about the wounds , they look very inflamed/infected? Glad your vet has put her on antibiotics..just hope that's enough. Would have thought the specialist needed to see that Asap I'm not surprised that you're not impressed by the lack of response to your callls *Hugs* please keep us posted.

So sorry to hear the latest and no wonder you are so angry at the specialist - yes I can imagine he may be in surgery and unable to return your call for a few hours - but 36 hours? that's not on.

Hoping the antibiotics have started to work and there are signs of the swelling etc. going down.

Just caught up with this thread. I really hope Wicca is feeling better, and that the pressure sore has started to go down. Sending hugs hugs from both me and fudge.

Oh poor Wicca, that looks so sore.
I'd be mad too if the specialist hadn't got back to me after 36 hours!!

I hope that you've heard from him by now.
Hugs to you & Wicca xxx

hope she gets better soon

(((huuugsss)))

the only thing i can relate this to is myhorse - he slipped and fell ina paddock and got a nail through his tendon - he spent 8 weeks in horse hospital and it wasnt sure if he would ever be sound again (or in the first 2 days actually live) - horses are so much more complicated, you cant keep them off their feet!! he also got infections etc

but now he gallops round the field -full pelt, he still ahs a hole in his tendon, but is living life to the full and enjoying himself more than ever.

i know its not exactly the same thing - but i hope you get where im coming from and i hope she makes as good a, if not even better recovery than my horse!
