Unbelievable!

Some friends of ours have a son that is always in trouble, serious stuff.

Anyway a few weeks back he took the keys (stole)to their subaru, and drove it around our little town until his father caught him and his friend.
He reported it to the police and he appeared in a youth offenders court or something similar.
Anyway they have given him 8 penatly points when he gets a full license and free driving lessons

What sort of punishment is that?

how does that work???

now you have a 2 year probation thing - if you get over 6 points in the first year your banned for 2 years.....

over 2 years then you can have upto 12 points (like me now)

hes a stupid lad though.....

If you get 6 points in the first 2 years of passing your test you have to resit the test not get a ban.

Seeing as he has to pass his test after he has been given the points then obviously this rule will not affect him. It's not necessarily fair but it is the law.

As for insurance, if he is willing to take a car and drive it without a licence or insurance then he probably will see it as a step up to have a licence and just not bother with the insurance.
