Do Dogs Go To Heaven !

Anyone who has read Bel Mooneys book, A small dog saved my life, will know of her little rescue dog that gave her so much love. As Bel says "Bonnie was just a silly little squiggle on the face of the earth, but to me an inexhaustible supply of glorious fun and serious, unconditional love ".

Now that Bonnie has gone Bel is left wondering Do dogs go to heaven?

Your thoughts welcome

You thread title reminds me of the film "All dogs go to Heaven". I like to believe they have their own heaven with all their doggie pals.

I don't believe in Heaven or Rainbow bridge, my dogs live forever in my heart and mind.

"Heaven" is a concept open to many different religions - an afterlife of bliss. As a member of a species of animal on this planet I would be arrogant in the extreme if i believed that only homo sapiens could expect to "go to heaven" when they die! As Trouble succinctly put it and Azz endorsed, heaven to them is their dogs forever in their heart and thoughts - which could be interpreted as a type of Rainbow Bridge. Rainbow Bridge is a concept, as is heaven, not an actual place. It is a concept for us as an intelligent species of animal to remember our beloved pets. Hal is and will be forever in my thoughts, he was my special love, my One. This is what heaven is all about, animals (including us) living on in our memories and through our genes.

It wouldn't be Heaven if our dogs weren't there with us, would it?

No such thing as heaven, so I'd say no they don't go there.

If there is a heaven and we go to heaven - our dogs will go there as well.

This is exactly my way of thinking.. As long as we treasure them they are never really gone.
