Sooky - 3 year old female Whippet X Jack Russell Terrier

Sooky, Whippet X Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 10.08 - Ewell, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Sooky has impaired hearing and so she can present as a timid and scared little dog and display her sense of vulnerability. She needs a family who can relax her and forgive a few mistakes if she gets startled or spooked. Respectful considerate older children who are conscious of her needs. Sooky could live with another dog given time to build trust, which would help her gain a sense of the world where she can feel isolation.

Her Story: Sooky grew up with 3 young children and a terrier with the family unaware of the actual nature of her hearing loss though they suspected something was awry. She bit her owner whilst travelling as she put her arm behind to the back seat to calm the children. 11 months later the other Jack Russell went for Sooky and the mother gave her to the vets as the owner couldn't cope with 2 dogs any longer. The vets spayed her for us. Sooky was fostered and then went into a quiet home with no other dogs but visiting toddler grandchild and gran dog. She has since been separated from children and dogs.

Advert: Sooky is a sensitive, often frightened little love. Sooky needs nurturing to expand her social scope as she can retract and can seem fearful of the world. Her hearing difficulties feature greatly in her timidity: She is startled by loud vibrations e.g. motorbikes which she has no sense of direction with. She currently lives off an A road with thundering vehicles and a more rural setting would support her needs.

Sooky is a small white Whippet x Patterdale possibly Jack Russell. She is pure white with pale blue eyes. Yes she is unusual and yes she has special needs. Sooky has a hearing impairment being dulled to most normal noises but bewildered by 'heavy' noises. She has special needs and can misinterpret sudden moves, can snap, has bitten if she gets disturbed without willing engagement. She has rarely bitten but needs a sensitive family where they are aware and supportive of her needs around her 'silent yet dramatic noise world'. She has an inability to understand and direct her attention to the source of loud noises or vibrations. She is very loving and seeks reassurance through her humans.
