Willow and me

I wrote this for the Xmas book that Maplecottage so brilliantly put up this year.
I'm posting it here mainly so I have a reference to it, but I hope that if people missed it they may enjoy and share the sentiment.

*To the tune of "Sound of Silence* Simon and Garfunkle*

Hello Willow my old friend.
It's just you and me again.
I hear your footsteps sofftly creeping
To be with me when I am sleeping.
And the love you show in your own doggy way
Still remains.
Within the sound of Silence.

In the night I'm not alone.
You've gone and lost my mobile phone!
Neath the halo of the street lamp,
Your eyes so bright, and your nose so damp,
My eyes are met by the gaze of my faithful pet,
And you can bet,
We love the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw,
A hunter, red in tooth and claw.
Yet you gently walk my Highways.
Stay with me throughout life's byways.
And the love you share is given without end,
My faithful friend.
Just you and me, and silence.

Thanks.
It was one of those occasions when it sort of wrote itself. I just had to prod the words into the right order.

Oh, I hope it wasn't sad
I meant it to show that even when I'm on my own (which to be honest I am a lot, 'cos I'm a miserable sod ) I always have Willow with me.
Stealing my duvet.
Pinching my dinner.
Letting off smelly farts in the bedroom at 2 am.
Barking at nothing just after I have gotten back to sleep after the smelly farts at 2 am.
Ripping up my mail when it is delivered.
Drinking my bathwater....

You know, it *is* sad *sobs*

Aww thats lovely Gaz - you certainly have a talent for making lovely poems and songs up

I used to think you meant Willow on this board and didn't realise that your dog was called Willow too
