Doesnt this just prove that we should have both dogs and cats ?

I have to say though, I have some crossover in behaviours - I do cut my cats claws as they make less mess when trying to modify the furniture. Dogs modify it with their teeth. Both cats and dogs have 'mad half hours' when they race around the house like madmen scattering all before them and sounding like a major thunderstorm. Then one of the cats - a pedigree showcat likes to be taken for a walk on a harness and her favourite game is 'fetch'.

The dogs on the other hand, dont 'do' fetch and look at me as if I was stupid. A couple of them can kip for Wales and have to be prised out of bed , only to quickly move onto the next one before being forced to go out for a 'wee'

Both cats and dogs need to be cuddled up to me as closely as they possibly can, all either bark or mi-ou for attention, all like each others dinners and all give me so much pleasure in different ways. I couldnt be without either cats or dogs.

I adore cats and when I met my husband I had four. It must have been love as my husband has an allergy to cats and they reduce him to a sniffing and snorting mess! Over the years, as the cats have passed on, I have stuck to my dogs and not replaced them. It was so lovely to read your analogy of cats because it made me laugh and was soooo true. Theres one thing that I can do with my dogs which I could never do with my independent natured cats and thats....................hug and kiss and spoon with on a lazy sunday afternoon !! Great thread!
