digital camcorders ??

Hubby wants to buy one but I need a new digi cam too he says they take stills as well but I've heard you lose pic quality with them.
Does any one know anything about them ?
Any advice would be much appreciated

They do lose piccy quality when you make them larger. I don't have a clue what i'm on about, that's just what my partner said

i dunno, i think it probably depends how good it is? The cheaper ones i shud imagine u lose pic quality, as with any digi cam. But if u get a good digi camcorder it will probably be ok.

Best to ask the guy in the store what he thinks? as i have never had one.

Yes they do lose picture quality big time the top one was taken with the cam and the other with a proper digital camera so you can see the differance they might have improved abit so the only thing you could do is get the shop to use the still feature and get it on a pc so you can see the pic quality.

I've borrowed my FIL's and that's got a 'card' in as well for the stills -so you record the films to disc and the stills to card as you would in an ordinary digi camera I've not took any stills tho' so can't comment on the quality
