Kids and chores

Do any of your children do chores as mine do and at school this afternoon we were discussing it alot of people said I was mean making my kids do housework.
Matthew 7 today had to hoover livingroom, hall and stairs, tidy his room empty dishwasher and helped me make dinner. He got to empty the dishwasher as a punishment.
Bronwyn 3 had to tidy her room empty the bins in the bedrooms and restock the toilet rolls.
I dont think they do to much, we have a rota everyone has a colour and we stick everyones colour on the jobs they have for the day every job completed gets a sticker(except jobs for punishment) and at the end of the week we work out how much pocket money they get.
Am I expecting to much of them as one of my friends kids doesnt even take her plate off the table when she is finished let alone do anything round the houseand she is 16.

I think it's a good idea Mary, it's not mean at all!
I think it teaches them responsibility.

Me and my sister always had jobs - we had to tidy our rooms, clear the table after eating (everyones plates etc), and stack the dishwasher.
We also had to empty the dishwasher in a morning, and my sister had to mop the floor of my Mums shop in an evening.

mine help tidy up around the house and sometime do the dishes when they are looking for something I also make sure they put their dirty clothes in the washing basket and not leave them all over the floor.

Yep. Although Iv just had to laff. My 19 year old son has come down from his royal domain (his bedroom), he thought we had all gone to bed, he was checking whether me and his father had locked up and turned all appliances off. lol
