My heart goes out to you.
I went through this about 5 years back with my eldest, he rang me about 2am one morning telling me his LTR had finished, he was in the middle of no-where (and wouldn't tell me where no-where was) and was going to kill himself.
He had recetly been made redunant and was in a number of debts due to it too
He rang off and both me or his step-dad couldn't get hold of him.
We spent a gruelling night ringing and searching with his other brother, we had a 48 hour wait, but he did return here on our doorstep.
I got him a doctors appt and the Doctor suggested he went to counscelling, those days are wll behind him now, he was in a dark place and finally he walked out into the light
I hope this will be the case for you and your son, Im sure he will contact you soon, best wishes and we are thinking of you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh Jackie I can't imagine what you are going through, I would be going demented.

I hope we get some good news soon.
Thinking of you and praying for a safe and happy outcome xx

I am sorry to hear things aren't going to smoothly with your boy.

I am another who has depression/mental health issues, and can sympathiese with you/your son. In the past I have packed a bag and suddenly got in my car and driven off in the night, poor OH didn't know what to do.

I hope your son returns soon.

Thank you all, although I cry every time I read your replies, they are actually really helping me.

Still no word.

I have tried to ring again, just saying that it is okay not to speak to me, but just send a text with one word in it - 'safe'.

Heard nothing.

I think I have been very ignorant, I knew he was down, but just did not recognise how depressed he was. He hides it so well.

Anyway, enough gut wrenching - thank you all.

Nothing really to add to what has been said but just wanted you to know that I too am hoping you get that text to say safe, after that everything else can be worked on or explored.

The only thing I will say is mental ill health can make you very blinkered and possibly even selfish he will have no concept of how worried you really are so he is in no way being deliberately evasive because of anyting you said or didn't sya or did or didn't do Huge hugs and hoping for good news
