Really special moment...

I was waiting at the train station yesterday (felt like a famous person because a lot of people were looking at Axel and I heard people talking about Greyhounds) and out of nowhere this woman asks for her boy to touch Axel. I said yes (he's not threatened by kids at all) and he tentatively put his hands out and stroked Axel's back (who didn't even seem to notice).
The woman beamed and said excitedly that the boy had autism (he was about 6-7) and although he likes to see dogs, he has NEVER touched a dog before!
I felt really touched that Axel could help facilitate that moment, makes me hope he gets to be a PAT dog even more and bring joy like that to other people.

Sometimes that's all it takes to get through the barrier. With one of our kids it's movies, another it's Sonic the Hedgehog. It's wonderful that he was able to make that contact.

That's lovely You must have been very proud! I know that our dogs have brought the best out in Ethan, who has autistic spectrum disorder. He loves them.
Good on Axel too...he's the ultimate babe!!
