Really friendly and a complete nutter Hes really gorgeous! I thought akitas were meant to be dog aggressive? but even when another dog had a go at him he ddnt care.

lmao, very true. jus i was lookin at dog breed info and said

The Akita is very aggressive to other dogs and animals and should therefore never be allowed to run off its lead around other animals
but anyway, he was really lovely only one around my area

There are lots of Akitas around my area, most are great dogs but one or two who have not been socialised properly can be aggressive.

The problem with this breed is its another one of those who attract the macho types. In short if brought up properly they are wonderful big dogs but if not then they can be dangerous, much like most. If they do attack they are some size so they need that real firm handling, they can be quite aloof. A beautiful breed. One I love but couldnt have my neighbour has one helluva big male and his dumps are like horses I couldnt be doing with carrying that around in my scooper bag till I found a bin lol.

the same can be said about any dog! how many german sheps have you met that lung at your dog. its all about how its brought up/socialised etc etc

i met my little Prinz's brother a couple weeks back. By accident! i talked to the owner, and turns out they were from the same place at the same time. But little Defer (i think its meant to be pronounced 'd' for.....dog...gulp) he is manic and barks all the time he is running about. whereas my little one (thinks he is the boss) calmly struts about (i did loads of obiedence with him when he was a baby)

i am a firm believer in that dogs are different in different households, with different people.

Think like most breeds if bred carefully and for the sake of the breed they make beautiful and lovely dogs, if not they can be a nightmare mainly because they are big strong dogs.

Do know someone who early on used to breed them but gave up when the breed for money brigade moved into the Akita and did their best to ruin the breed by careless breeding and cross breeding with other guarding/fighting breeds. Think to some extent this has now stopped, hope so, and the breed will return to being as it should be, impressive but safe.

now if everyone agrees that its not the breed but each individual dog. And with careful socialisation you wont have any problems.
why is it these breed sites say some dogs r dangerous and some arent? if it is purely down to the owner

IMO it is down to the breeder, some dogs are not suitable for pets. Any dog can be ruined by training or lack of it but some dogs require special handling and are not suitable for the average dog owner. And yes, some breeds are more difficult than other and some breeds have a sharper or more aggressive temperament than others, it is just not always the breeds you would expect.
