Roxy had a follow up appointment at the GUVS today.
Vet is very happy with Roxy's wound site and general health. The histopathology results of the tumour and surrounding tissue showed that they got reasonably good margins but that a few mast cells were left behind. She described them as 'behaving' themselves but mast cells and mast cell tumours are very unpredictable in nature.
They took a couple of aspirations from around the wound site and if they show that the cells are still behaving and haven't changed then that will be her for 6 months when we have the option to repeat radiographs and the ultrasound to check for any changes or abnormalities.
If they have changed in a way that is likely to form another tumour, then other treatments will be considered - radiotherapy and/or chemo. All depends on the histopathology results which we'll get on Tuesday. As this was her second tumour and that it was subcutaneous, they would like to monitor her very closely.
Thought we would be finished with this! Ah well. Please send some positive vibes for my lovely, brave girl and hope for good news on Tuesday. They said how well behaved she was and was their star patient of the day.
