question about reserving a puppy

if a pup is 'reserved' does that mean that the sex of the pup is reserved or the actual pup they Want is reserved?

Thanks!

It would totally depend on what agreement you had with the breeder of the pup.

Normally puppies are reserved once you've been to see the liter and picked the one you want. But as Mistyblue has said it depends entirely on the agreement with the breeder!

oh right, i was just thinking as i read the post below about what age did you buy your pup, i thought say i got to see them at 6 weeks, but the one i wanted was reserved?

just wondered if it was based on sex or the actual pup?

how would you know what you you wanted to early on say at 3weeks? or before pup was born?!

guess ill have find out nearer the time i guess & get myself on the waiting list when the time comes!

It may be a puppy that breeder is keeping a puppy or the sire has pick of litter. You would need to get more information and ask where you would be on the list re choice of pup.

i had a list which was in order of phone calls. As soon as the litter was born i rang them all and explained I was keeping a girl and the first pick of the dogs was going to a friend then explained what choice they had left

Awww bet you can't wait!

When I have gone to choose my puppy some breeders put nail varnish on one nail or a different ribbon around a collar to differentiate between them whose puppy is whose.

If the litter is unborn, initially it is just the sex of the puppy you can reserve. After that you can choose which one you want, but as has been said before the breeder will have first pick if they intend to keep any.
