Our club insists on the door thing too, but it's not because of dominance or anything, just manners, so that dogs aren't dragging owners through doors, and owners can see what's beyond the door (eg. cats, other dogs, postmen) before the dog does.

Sounds like a nice club

Well, I hope it went OK Claire, we don't have any dog trainning clubs around here but fact is even if there were some we'd probably be in the same position as you, OH doesn't like a lot of the dog trainners philosophies (Choke chains, pinning etc) and Bara in particular will have a go at some dogs, 'tho to date she's never had a nip at anyone (except me )
