No, dont think it matters as long as the owner puts the time into give the dog a diverse exersice regime.

Each dog is such an individual within it's own breed I think it would depend. Rossi is soooo different to Isla, but even so I think they'd both adapt to a town life. Wether they'd adapt to a city life though I don't know cos I have no experience of them really. As long as the dog gets the correct amount of exercise for it's breed then I think they could live anywhere.

As for me I'd much prefer to live in the country, as I always have done - but due to the ridiculously high house prices and the amount of people buying second homes in country villages, I can't afford to but a house in my village.

I don't think it makes a difference, I think it is however...the ownership of the dog...that makes the difference.

ie Take a BC bought as a pup from a farm, but walked forever and a day around the bloke of a busy town, admitedly the BC wouldn't know any difference but us humans would, we'd be looking at the BC and thinking...poor dog, never off a lead etc etc., lives in a town, should be on a farm....how could they. But does that BC know any difference.????

I think it is up the the person buying the breed to look at ''what kind of life am I giving this dog.

Ours are lucky they go to fields, nature centre walks, huge parks most days, they go to the alloment, they travel to Scotland,Ireland,Wales, Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire etc., they socialise, they play....and they have the capablity to walk through a busy town, with hundreds of people milling around, cars, motorbikes and buses, with the greatest of ease.

We live in a busy area where its very busy, do we like the country Yes, do they feel hard done by....who knows, but they take everything in thier stride.

Would they adapt to city life...yes.....would they adapt to country life....yes

I would say that it didn't matter where you live provided you understood that ALL dogs need exercise and variety. They don't just want to walk round the block or their local park. You need to be prepared to take them to different places and take into account the breed you are dealing with. Some working dogs need much much more excercise and stimulus.

It would seem we are all in agreement then So long as a breed history is taken into consideration, suitable exercise, stimulation etc etc is provided then all breeds (barring certain individuals perhaps) can live happily in urban or rural areas.

Also think it is down to owners... mine I think would love to live rurally, but we have access to woods and fields so they do okay, as long as you consider the dogs needs before you get it, I don't see a problem...
