adding 2 dog's to the household

hey guys, as you know i have a border collie (11months) and a cairn (8yrs) both male, my OH has a border collie bitch (7yrs), hopefully this summer OH is moving in with me, the thing is both my OH and me are hoping to get another dog each this year or early next, but we would both be looking at getting bitches, now am i making a recipe for diaster or could this work!!?

The puppies would be both ours seperatly, seperate training, walking, play times etc, but im really concerned that 2 bitches around the same age may fight! they would have everything done seperate with them but they would be in the same house obviously! Would it be better if i got another male? Im possibly looking at getting a leonberger or another collie, and Oh is getting a collie.

Ohh Gemma, two the same age is never a good idea. I'm sure we have some past threads about this. I'll have a look around and see if I can find them.

Mmm i know, but they wouldnt be exactly the same age, possibly months between in age, we will have to think hard about this! cheers dawn

Why should they fight???

I know of several people here in Denmark who have multiple bitches without a problem...

Gems first of all do you have the space for 5 dogs especially if one of them could be a large breed.

MILLIE and gypsy dont fight there is 2 months between them

we had 2 bitches together for 7 years and they never fought

although it would be hard work having 5 dogs all in one house, you must me mad hun x x x
